Sunseeker 45M Superyacht Sharpens Lines, and Focus on Large Yachts

Delivering on a pledge to offer additional megayacht projects, Sunseeker has peeled back the curtain on a 148-footer (45-meter). The Sunseeker 45M Superyacht should also start construction in about a year's time. The model marks the largest yacht currently among the British builder's offerings. Earlier this year, it began building hull number one of the Sunseeker 134 Superyacht (below), which went under contract last year. Since all styling and naval architecture occurs in house, the two bear a family profile. Sunseeker owners and aficionados will recognize particularly the chiseled, unapologetically sharp lines from bow to stern and upper deck to aft deck. The Sunseeker 45M Superyacht gives the impression that she'll uphold her builder's strong emphasis on performance, too. Although the shipyard isn't revealing anticipated figures, it does say that the megayacht will have a new semi-displacement hull design. For comparison, the 134 promises a 20-knot top speed. Of course, maximizing interior volume is important these days, as is giving clients abundant design choices. To that end, the Sunseeker 45M Superyacht, at 440 gross tons, can accommodate 10 to 12 people in five or six staterooms. With the Design Unlimited studio, customers can outfit the saloon, staterooms, and sky lounge as they so wish. Speaking of the sky lounge, since it appears that the yacht has a raised pilothouse, owners and guests have a good amount of elevated leisure space. The sky lounge, lined with full-height windows, can become an indoor-outdoor area, too, adjacent to an intimate aft deck. Sunseeker 134 Superyacht Down one level, meanwhile, the main aft deck is, in Sunseeker's view, the place where owners and guests will want to be just as much. The design is an open yet sheltered lounge (below), with protection from the upper deck's overhang. Cutouts to each side extend the views, and even though handrails for the side decks are partially visible, the bulkheads are notched, with glass insets. A crew of nine will handle operations, including launching watertoys. Both a tender and two waterbikes can stow in a transverse garage. Sunseeker further says it has a letter of intent for hull number one from a repeat customer. With hull laying set for the third quarter of 2027, delivery should be in mid-2029.
