Hornets Trade Proposal Lands Star Center to Bolster Frontcourt

The Charlotte Hornets could be one of the more fun teams across the NBA this season, even if they aren't being considered true title contenders. With Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel now leading the show, the Hornets' offense should be dangerous once again. Both players are expected to take big jumps this coming season, adding more to the firepower of the team. The Hornets also traded for Naz Reid this offseason, giving them a legitimate big man for the roster. But the frontcourt of the Hornets is still one of the weaker points on the roster. This could see Charlotte look to make some additions, adding more depth across the board. One name that could make sense is veteran center Myles Turner of the Milwaukee Bucks. Turner has been rumored to be on the trade block with Milwaukee looking to rebuild this coming season. And the Hornets could come in to take advantage of the situation. Juan Paolo David of Heavy.com put together a trade prediction for Turner to head to Charlotte. Within it, it would have the Hornets sending out two players to land the center. Here is how the framework of the deal would look between the two teams: Hornets receive: Myles Turner Bucks receive: Grant Williams and Ryan Kalkbrenner On paper, this trade looks like it could be a steal for the Hornets. But it doesn't work within the financial aspect of the new NBA restrictions. Charlotte would need to send out one more contract, potentially someone like Liam McNeeley. But overall, this deal could be beneficial for both sides. For the Hornets, they would get a star center in Turner to pair with Miller and Knueppel, giving them a nice trio. Turner could anchor the Hornets' frontline, offering a big man who could defend the paint and space the floor. Last season with the Bucks, Turner averaged 11.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. This was a big drop from where he had been in recent years of his career. While he had an underwhelming first season with the Bucks last year, Turner is still one of the better two-way centers in the NBA. Playing in the high-flying Hornets offense, Turner could see his numbers grow, potentially getting back to where they were with the Indiana Pacers. The one knock on Turner, other than his down year in 2025-26, is his contract. The big man is scheduled to make $26.5 million this year, then $27.8 million in 2027-28, and then he has a player option for $29.1 million for the 2028-29 season. While these are high numbers, adding Turner to the frontcourt next to Reid could give Charlotte a dominate defensive presence. This could push them to be even stronger contenders, raising the ceiling of this young group.
