The Practical Magic 2 star, 62, spoke with Jennifer Aniston for a new profile in Interview Magazine and was asked by her longtime friend how she manages balancing parenting her two kids — son Louis, 16, and daughter Laila, 12 — with her career. 'If the kids can't be with me, I'm not going,' Bullock stated. 'The older they get, the bigger their schedules. And their schedules are more important than me telling a story, period.' 'I don't have that same drive to be in front of the camera. I get my fulfillment from the prep, the building of it, rather than the 'Hey, I'm an actor and look what I've done.' That scares me actually, because then the judgement comes,' she continued. 'But unless the kids are with me, I'm lost, and I have to figure that out too because kids always have to leave. Bullock's teenage son is getting ready to leave the house in a few years — which Aniston quipped gives the actress 'a year and a half to prepare you.' She went on to ask Bullock how she decides which film to do next and if she wants to do another one straight away. 'No, I'm so burnt. Also, by the time we're done with press, the kids are in school. The rule is, everything I do has to be here in L.A.,' said Bullock. 'If something requires travel, it'll happen during the summer.' 'Maybe I need to just stop a little and have a social life. I was told I need to have more fun outside of a work environment,' she continued. 'Because as you said, I have to prepare for the fact that I'll no longer have a job as a mother.' Earlier this month, Bullock shared that her daughter Laila thinks the Oscar winner should start dating again — but noted that she has certain rules in place for the person her mom chooses. 'She said I needed to date, but only, someone where they can get stuff,' Bullock quipped on the Sept. 3 episode of Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast, before clarifying, 'So I said, 'A rapper, a basketball player? That's the parameters? Like, what is it?' She's like, 'Yeah.' ' Sandra Bullock. Ian West/PA Images via Getty Although Bullock is single, she was previously in a long-term relationship with photographer Bryan Randall, who died in August 2023 after a private battle with ALS. He was 57. The actress and Randall co-parented her son Louis and daughter Laila, as well as Randall's daughter from a previous relationship, Skylar Staten Randall. Later in the podcast episode, Bullock noted on Not Gonna Lie that her daughter is famous for being 'brutal' with her comments. She shared an anecdote about a recent Zoom call she had when Laila passed by before it began. 'She went, 'You know, you can put a filter on that.' And I went, 'What?' She goes, 'You know, you can make yourself look better.' And she just types in. She slides [it over and] put it right there. And it was literally, like, someone taking Vaseline and smeared on the lens and put a sheet in front of my face,' she shared. Bullock added that her Zoom is 'still on that same setting.' And while Laila's comments might cut, Bullock said she appreciates the honesty. 'How bad if I'd gone on that Zoom?' she mused. 'I wouldn't have gotten the job.'
