Wison can't wait for Euro games to kick-in

James Wilson believes he is in a 'really good place' and he declared: 'I just want to keep trying to find the back of the net and help the team.' The 19-year-old striker made the comment in the latest edition of the club programme and the Hearts Academy graduate revealed that he was desperate for Hearts to get through the play-off against Rapid Vienna. Now, the Linlithgow-based player, who is a former pupil at Balerno High School, can't wait for the matches in the UEFA Conference League to kick-in. Wilson loved travelling with the squad during their previous European excursion and he is now gearing up for matches in Cyprus (v Pafos, December 17, 20.00), Turkey (v Trabzonspor, October 22, 17.45) and Switzerland (Thun, November 5, 17.45). Wilson revealed: 'You don't get to see much of the city but, just being away, playing in Europe, you're playing against teams from other countries, I love all of that. I can't wait.' Hearts also entertain Monaco (November 26, 17.45), FK Borac Banja Luka from Bosnia and Herzegovina (December 10, 20.00) and Danish side, Nordsjaelland (October 15, 20.00). Last season, the player spent several months at English Premiership side, Tottenham, and he has no regrets with the decision to go south, even for a short period. Wilson said: 'At the time, I wasn't really playing many minutes, and that was the most important thing to me. I wanted to make sure I was just playing consistent minutes and I got that at Spurs. 'I also got more of the sports science side of it and, when you're playing in the Premier League, getting away trips, being on the bench a coupe of times, seeing a top facility, at a top club, and being able to learn from that and take my experiences back to Hearts to help me this year.' Scotland have a new international manager, but Wilson's focus is not on securing a place in his squad, it is doing as well as he can with Hearts. He has already been capped by the national team, but the player said: 'If I can play as many minutes and score as many goals then, naturally, that'll take care of itself. 'I've gone from not playing many minutes at the start of this season, to now playing minutes and scoring goals, so I'm just hoping that continues.' So do the Jambos fans.
