Five foreigners face deportation for illegal stay in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested five foreigners allegedly staying illegally in Bengaluru and handed them over to police for deportation proceedings..The action was part of a special drive to identify foreign nationals suspected of drug trafficking and illegal stay. The five, from different countries, were intercepted in KR Puram and Kammanahalli..Based on intelligence inputs about foreign national settlements linked to drug trafficking, the NCB placed the suspects under surveillance..31 Bangaladeshi nationals detained in Bengaluru, sent to Bengal for deportation.The agency found that they were not engaged in any legitimate employment, business or educational activity and were suspected of involvement in drug-related activities..The NCB said eight foreigners — seven Africans and one Yemeni — had already been deported in 2026 for similar violations and suspected involvement in drug trafficking..Landlords warned .The agency also warned landlords accommodating foreign nationals to comply with the law..Under Section 7 of the Foreigners Act, landlords must submit details of foreign tenants to the police or Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) through Form-C within 24 hours of providing accommodation. Violations can attract up to five years' imprisonment under Section 14 of the Act.
