There was a high-powered UK presence yesterday at the memorial service for Paul Gauselmann, the patriarch of the German industry and head of the Merkur group, who died on August 21. The event was held in the grounds of Benkhausen Castle, the schloss that Gauselmann adopted and renovated as home for his beloved coin machine industry museum and epicentre of the Merkur Group's education programme for aspiring student operators. A remarkable scene The forecourt of the castle was a remarkable scene with nearly 500 guests from all over Germany and many of the countries in which the Merkur Group operates. Among them were Sascha Blodau, general manager of Merkur UK (centre), with Mark Schertle, COO of Merkur Casino UK (right) and Matt Cole, managing director of Blueprint Gaming (left).
