Burkina Faso Triumphs at PRURide 2026

The event took place at the Borteyman Highway. Riders from Burkina Faso showcased their dominance throughout the competition. Over 100 cyclists participated, including 21 women. Competitors came from Ghana, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso. Dignitaries present included Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and Richard Akpokavie. H.E. David Kabre and Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana were also in attendance. In the men's elite race, Burkina Faso claimed eight of the top ten spots. Soumaïla Ibiboudo finished first with a time of 2:46:14.85. He won the overall title and a prize of GH¢15,000. Saturnin Yameogo followed closely in second place at 2:46:15.27, earning GH¢8,000. Ilboudo Issouf secured third place with a time of 2:48:29.02 for GH¢5,000. Ghana's Emmanuel Sesi placed eighth while Prince Kudufia finished tenth. Burkina Faso's AJCK team took first in the team standings, followed by Die Hard Cycling Club and River Park Cycling Club. In the women's race, Awa Bamogo from USFA won overall in 1:56:05 for GH¢15,000. Her teammate Marie Rose Yameogo Eveline finished second at 2:00:24 for GH¢8,000. Zongo Samiratou also from USFA crossed third at 2:00:25 for GH¢5,000. USFA riders occupied six out of ten top positions in the women's race. Marie Rose Yameogo Eveline was recognized as the youngest female rider at age 18. PRURide 2026 celebrated all cyclists across various categories as well. Richard Yaw Attah won in the Persons with Disability category while Ebenezer Mensah Adjei placed second; both received GH¢1,000 each. Special recognition went to Melcom Americo as the oldest male rider at age 51 and Farrakhan Shaaban Mohammed as the youngest at age 19; they also received GH¢1,000 each. The competition featured impressive speeds; men averaged 40.43 km/h over their race distance while women averaged 34.73 km/h. PRURide Elite Race 2026 ended successfully with Burkina Faso establishing its cycling strength prominently during this edition. The event was organized by Prudential Life Insurance Ghana alongside several partners including the Ghana Cycling Federation and Ministry of Sports & Recreation among others.
