ECP sets February 7 date for first phase of Punjab local polls

ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP):The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday announced that the first phase of local government elections in Punjab would begin on February 7, 2027, issuing a short order on the province-wide electoral process. The announcement came after a hearing on the conduct of local government elections in Punjab, during which the provincial government sought time until January 20, 2027, to complete the necessary preparations. The ECP had reserved its decision after hearing the provincial government's request and subsequently announced its short order, setting February 7 as the starting date for the first phase of the local government elections in the province.
