AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Volunteers Support Sartell Police

VOLUNTEERS RECOGNIZING SARTELL POLICE DEPARTMENT This Friday, a group of local volunteers will be doing something pretty special to say thank you to the men and women of the Sartell Police Department. AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP volunteers will gather at the Sartell Police Department at 11 a.m. to deliver a collection of gifts and comfort items for officers to use while they are out serving the community. GIFTS FOR COMFORT Along with treats for the officers, the volunteers are including small teddy bears that police can give to children during stressful or frightening situations. They are also putting together activity packs for seniors who may need a little comfort or distraction during a difficult call. Get our free mobile app A police officer responding to an upsetting situation may not be able to change what happened, but being able to hand a scared child a teddy bear could make that moment just a little less scary. Giving a senior something to do while they wait through a difficult situation could provide a small bit of comfort. Those little acts of kindness matter. ASK YOURSELF A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION The project is part of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, and it is a wonderful reminder that honoring September 11 doesn't have to mean simply looking backward. It can also mean looking around our own communities and asking, "What can I do to help?"
