BJP will comfortably win Rejinagar, record margin in Nandigram: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday expressed confidence that the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) would win the Rejinagar Assembly bypoll comfortably and register a record-margin victory in Nandigram. 'The BJP will win Rejinagar comfortably. In Nandigram, the BJP will win by a record margin,' Adhikari said at BJP Party office in Salt Lake. Advertisement The Election Commission on Monday announced that bypolls would be held in the two West Bengal Assembly constituencies on October 6, with counting scheduled for October 9. The notification will be issued on September 9, while September 16 is the last date for filing nominations. Advertisement The Rejinagar seat in Murshidabad fell vacant after Aam Janata Unnayan Party chief Humayun Kabir, who had won both Rejinagar and Naoda in the 2026 Assembly elections, resigned from Rejinagar. Nandigram was vacated by Adhikari after he won both Nandigram and Bhabanipur in the Assembly elections and chose to retain Bhabanipur. The Nandigram bypoll is expected to attract particular attention, given the constituency's political significance and Adhikari's previous electoral contests with Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee. The Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the districts concerned following the announcement of the bypoll schedule.
