Construction of a new MCD-3 Monument station has begun in Khimki, which is scheduled to open at the end of 2027. This was announced on September 8 on the website of the government of the Moscow region.
It is noted that the new stop will be located between the Khimki and Molzhaninovo stations on the third route of the Moscow Central Diameters. The construction of the station was previously supported by residents of the nearby residential complexes "Solar System" and "Two Capitals", who requested its creation on the direct line of the president. About 28.5 thousand people live within walking distance from the future station.
In addition, the station will be equipped with two passenger platforms with canopies, two lobbies and a covered hall above the tracks. Escalators, elevators and turnstiles will also be provided, and the infrastructure will be adapted for passengers with limited mobility, parents with strollers and people with luggage. It is planned to equip pedestrian paths, bike parks, landscaping areas, two bus platforms, parking for 300 places and taxi stands near the station.
On that day, it was reported that the Russian government was considering the possibility of building the Transaltai Railway, which would provide direct access to China. The project involves the creation of a railway entrance to China through a 55 km long section of the border between Kazakhstan and Mongolia. At this point, the Altai Republic directly borders the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China.
