Over 200 students from degree, PU and diploma colleges participated in an HIV awareness marathon organised in Ballari on Tuesday under the theme
'Run for Health, Walk for HIV Control'

Flagging off the event at Indira Circle, district surgeon Dr Basareddy urged youngsters to stay away from unhealthy habits and maintain good health. He said running improves physical fitness, while walking strengthens mental resilience and confidence.
District HIV control officer Dr Indrani highlighted the importance of public awareness in preventing HIV and encouraged students to adopt healthy lifestyles and positive behavioural changes.
Participants were also informed about free HIV testing facilities through QR codes under the Mobilisation for AIDS Suraksha scheme.
The marathon covered Indira Circle, Cool Corner, Satyanarayanapet flyover and KEB Circle before concluding near Channabasappa Layout.
S Pavan of Veerashaiva College and
Pavithra
of BMCRC Nursing College emerged winners in the men's and women's categories. Cash prizes and trophies were distributed to the top performers. Representatives of various HIV control units and community-based organisations also took part in the programme.
