The man was working on a New York City garbage truck at Gabrielli Truck Sales and Service in Hicksville, according to News 12 Long Island.
The truck backed over the man and killed him, Hicksville Fire Department dispatcher Chris Mercadante told Newsday. The victim's identity has not been publicly released.
Nassau County police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Newsday. The investigation into his death is ongoing.
