Barbara Eden updates fans after abruptly canceling appearance

(KTLA) (KTLA) – 'I Dream of Jeannie' star Barbara Eden took to social media to assure fans that she's okay after she abruptly pulled out of a film festival appearance. The 95-year-old was set to appear at the Cinecon 62 Classic Film Festival this weekend, but canceled. The festival said it was 'due to a sudden illness,' which immediately worried everyone about Eden's well-being. On Sunday, she took to Instagram to let everyone know she's fine. 'It's okay everyone! I'm okay!' she wrote. 'Oh, my goodness there has been a bit of miscommunication. I'm not suffering from an illness; my doctor very recently prescribed a brand-new medication that turned out to have some nasty side effects. Due to the discomfort, my doctor ordered me to remain at home until it can be sorted out.' 'What awful timing for this to happen!' she continued. 'My deepest appreciation to everyone for the concern.' She then said this was 'just a speedbump' and expects to be 'out and about' as soon as she's 'given the go-ahead!' She then offered her 'love and thanks to everyone for all the concern.' Eden was set to receive the Cinecon Legacy Award on Saturday night at the Landmark's Nuart Theatre in West Los Angeles. That day the festival took to Facebook to update attendees that the actress wouldn't be able to make it, but that her 'All Hands on Deck' costar Pat Boone will accept the award on her behalf. The festival screened the 1961 classic that same evening. The cancelation comes just two weeks after 'The Flaming Star' actress's 95th birthday.
