Red Bulls' Ethan Horvath Named to MLS Team of the Matchday

Veteran goalkeeper Ethan Horvath was instrumental in ensuring that Red Bull New York left Lumen Field on Saturday with a valuable point gained. The 31-year-old netminder made six saves in Saturday's scoreless draw against Seattle Sounders FC. It was his second shutout of the season. On Monday, Horvath was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 24. He parried away several close-range shots to keep Seattle off the scoreboard. 'Ethan had a really good game and so we are really happy for him,' Bradley said. 'He has had a bunch of nights this year, where he has been really key for us, and when you come here and you play against a team like Seattle in this environment, you know you are going to need some big plays from your goalkeeper and so Ethan was there for us when we needed him.' 'There's been a handful of games where we conceded late goals this year, so I think it was really important as a team that we got the clean sheet,' Horvath said on Saturday. 'Of course, we had opportunities to win the game, and that's the next level to when we get those chances that we can finish them, so we can leave Seattle with 1-0, 2-0 win, but was my first time coming to Seattle on a club level, and everyone says it's a tough place to come with the field, the team is good, the atmosphere and whatnot. I think on the positive, we can be positive and leave Seattle on a good start to the away trip.' Every point will be crucial to positioning in the final months of the 2026 MLS season, and a single point could be the difference between making and missing the MLS Cup playoffs. The Red Bulls currently sit outside the playoffs in 10th place, having collected 27 points through 23 matches. Only two points separate Red Bull New York from rivals New York City FC, who occupy seventh place. Red Bull New York will next face Los Angeles FC at BMO Stadium on Wednesday.
