On September 7, 2005, twenty-one years ago now, as one of the Toronto events marking the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, the families who had lost loved ones in two terrorist events 9/11 and the Air India bombing in 1985 met together. I was one of the journalists who covered the event, so here is a photogallery of that meeting. (Note over the years I have lost the original notes, so not everyone is fully identified)
Maureen Basnick'shusband Ken was killed on the 106th floor of the North Tower at the World Trade Center, leaving her a widow with two children, including her then 16-year-old sonBrennan, She has since become an advocate for the victims of terrorist attacks and founded the Canadian Coalition Against Terror.
Lata Padalost her husband, Vishnu Pada and her two daughters Ari and Brinda in the Air India bombing in 1985.
Nicola Kelly's mother Basra was killed in the bombing.
