Kano APC Supporters Reject N3,000 Rally Stipend, Threaten To Abandon Tinubu Campaign

Some supporters of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State have threatened to withdraw their support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election campaign after receiving N3,000 each for attending a party rally in the state. The supporters, who expressed their displeasure in a video monitored by PLATFORM TIMES, said the amount was inadequate to cover their transportation and other expenses incurred while attending the campaign event. About seven men wearing yellow T-shirts branded with the APC logo were seen in the video, with one of them, identified as Salisu Shuaibu, speaking on behalf of the group. Shuaibu said the supporters had arrived at the venue as early as 7am but were disappointed by the amount allegedly given to them at the end of the mobilisation. He said some of the supporters spent between N1,000 and N1,500 on transportation, leaving them with little or nothing from the N3,000 allowance. 'If this is how the journey would be, we will not support again. You can't call us to Kano. You did not give birth to us,' Shuaibu said. According to him, the supporters had mobilised for the rally because of their commitment to the President and the APC but felt that their sacrifices had not been adequately recognised. 'We came out since 7am. Some spent N1,000, some spent N1,500, and you gave us N3,000. Before we return, we borrow money,' he added. Shuaibu warned that the treatment could affect future mobilisation for the President and the ruling party. 'If this is what is going to happen in the future, we will not be part of this campaign again. We supported you fully. We will not be going again,' he said. The development comes as political parties intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with supporters and party structures expected to play a key role in rallies and other political activities. The complaint also highlights the growing financial pressures faced by political supporters who travel from different locations to attend rallies, particularly amid the rising cost of transportation and other living expenses. There was no response from the APC leadership in Kano contained in the material reviewed as of the time of filing this report.
