Sandra Bullock's Teen Children Surprise Reveal in 'Practical Magic 2'

Sandra Bullock revealed a touching surprise for her two teenage children, Louis and Laila, regarding their participation in the upcoming film 'Practical Magic 2.' Having adopted Louis in 2010 and Laila in 2015, Bullock noted that this film marked a milestone for her kids, being the first set they were old enough to remember clearly and, notably, the first in which they actually made it into the final cut. In a conversation with Nicole Kidman on Hoda Kotb's podcast 'Making Space,' Bullock recounted how her kids had been curious about her work on the film. They peppered her with questions like, 'Where are you going?' and 'Can we watch?' eventually asking, 'Can we be in it?' Previously, Bullock had attempted to include them in her projects but often faced disappointment as their appearances were cut. However, this time, things were different. Bullock mentioned that she managed to incorporate recordings of her children, capturing 'their essences' from when they were babies up to now. The big reveal occurred at the film's Los Angeles premiere, where the teens were astonished to see themselves included in the movie. Bullock shared, 'Last night when it came up, they're all like, 'That's me?' And they got to see themselves as babies and little toddlers. And yeah, it was very sweet.' Laughing, she remarked, 'So they didn't get cut out. They're kinda in it.' Kidman, who also has teenage children—Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret—spoke fondly about her own family's experience on the set. Having had her children around film sets for much of their lives, she described the project as a family affair. 'It was just beautiful for them,' she said, noting that they had also seen the original film. Both Oscar-winning actresses reflected on the joys and challenges of parenting teenagers, offering advice to Kotb, who has younger daughters. Kidman emphasized the joy of accompanying young people on their journeys and providing them with guidance, saying, 'I'm your guide. I'm hopefully your home, your safe place, and the world is your oyster.' Bullock, who navigates parenting with her two Black children, shared her unique challenges and worries, saying, 'I'm uber paranoid… It's not fine outside.' She touched on her deep concern for their safety and the societal issues they face, but also expressed her desire to learn to trust them as they navigate their adolescent experiences. 'Where they are now is extraordinary,' she concluded, highlighting the growth she sees in her children.
