Six finalists revealed for 2026 FBD Young Farmer of the Year Six young farmers from five counties are in the running to be crowned the 2026 FBD Young Farmer of the Year. The winners will be announced at an awards banquet on Tuesday 8 September. Previous Next The finalists for the 2026 FBD Young Farmer of the Year have been announced, with the overall winner set to be announced on Tuesday night. The finalists were announced on Tuesday 8 September at The Heritage Hotel, Killenard, Co Laois, and will now face individual interviews with the judging panel before the winners are revealed. The competition, sponsored by FBD and run by Macra in partnership with the Irish Farmers Association and Macra Agricultural Skillnet, recognises the achievements, innovation and commitment of young farmers across a range of farming enterprises. The six finalists are as follows: Enda Armstrong, Galway. Charlie Smyth, Cavan. Patrick Breslin, Cavan. Liam Barton, Laois. Shane Halpin, Dublin. Joanne Cushen, Kilkenny. The six finalists were selected following an application process, with each now vying for the title of the 2026 FBD Young Farmer of the Year.
