The attack is carried by Fitna Al-Hindustan terrorists, they hurled a grenade at the security installation and fled the scene. According to initial information, the attackers targeted the police station with a hand grenade before escaping. The injured police official was shifted to hospital for medical treatment, while security personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers. The latest incident comes amid heightened counter-terrorism activity in Mastung and other parts of Balochistan, where security forces and law-enforcement agencies have intensified operations against terrorists networks. In recent days, security forces have conducted multiple intelligence-based operations in Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi, with the Inter-Services Public Relations reporting the killing of dozens of terrorist. Mastung has repeatedly featured in Balochistan's recent security picture. In July, security forces launched Operation Shaban after terrorists attacked Mangi Dam Police Station, with subsequent operations in the Mastung area targeting terrorist hideouts and networks. Police personnel in the district have also previously been targeted through roadside explosives. In June, four policemen were injured when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in the Dasht area of Mastung while it was transporting prisoners from Dasht court to Mastung jail. The repeated targeting of police facilities and personnel underscores the security pressure facing law-enforcement agencies in Mastung. Police stations and other security installations remain potential targets because of their role in maintaining local security and supporting counter-terrorism operations. The latest grenade attack also comes shortly after a series of counter-terrorism operations across Balochistan. On September 4, the ISPR said security forces had killed 48 terrorists in operations across Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi, describing the campaign as part of the continuing effort against what the state terms foreign-sponsored terrorism. Security forces have launched a search operation following the Mastung attack, while further investigation is underway. The incident highlights the continuing contest between law-enforcement agencies seeking to consolidate security in the province and militant groups attempting to disrupt state institutions and public order.
