UFO expert dives into mystery of strange object found in Estonia in 1960s
In the 1960s, workers found mysterious material in Estonia, then part of the Soviet Union, while digging a well near a house.
Piqued by the discovery, Soviet authorities launched a major investigation.
The authorities dug up the entire area and built a tunnel.
But during the process, a worker reportedly hit the object with his pickaxe and was thrown backward.
Stunned, the authorities closed down the tunnel, and the object itself was never recovered.
Ross Coulthart, the NewsNation special correspondent who frequently reports on UFOs, has now shared the alleged incident.
On his podcast, he said he visited the site himself.
'The reality is the Soviet Union had its fair share of anomalous events, and this is one of the most celebrated ones,' he said.
The mysterious object was called 'Object M', and Coulthard alleged that both KGB and now FSB files recorded the event.
'It's been the subject of speculation in Estonia for many years, both before and after the fall of the Iron Curtain," the expert said.
According to Coulthart, the Soviets took these eerie incidents seriously enough to pool vast resources to investigate them.
'The Soviets in the era of the Cold War dedicated an investigation to over 10,000 UFO cases, and what they found proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that Russia was very, very interested in UFOs,' he concluded.
