The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation (OMFED) has announced a ₹2 per litre increase in milk procurement rates, effective from September 11, 2026. This decision is expected to benefit over three lakh dairy farmers across the state. The hike comes in response to rising costs of cattle feed, medicines, and other essential inputs, which had prompted farmers to demand better compensation. The revised rates will be directly credited to farmers' accounts through local milk societies, ensuring transparency and timely payments. Farmers have welcomed the move, calling it a much‑needed relief that will strengthen their financial position and sustain dairy farming in Odisha.
