Texas HC Steve Sarkisian 'shocked' by Michigan fans

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian met with the media Monday as his team begins preparations to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. He is focusing on the Buckeyes, but still had time to comment on another Big Ten team in Michigan. Sarkisian was asked about the shocking Michigan-Western Michigan finish and shared his thoughts. The most notable part of his comments were when he called out Michigan fans. The Longhorns head coach began his comments by joining fans in expression confusion over the added second at the end of the game. "My biggest thing was, I was shocked they stormed the field," Sarkisian said. "That was probably a surprise." Sarkisian joins many others in being surprised seeing Michigan fans storm the field after a win over a MAC school. The Wolverines were also heavy favorites and it took a controversial final play to actually pull out the victory. The fact Sarkisian commented on the game and the field storming shows how big of a story this game was in Week 1. Michigan fans even inserted themselves into the overall story with a surprise field storm. Such a move is usually reserved for a major upset over a tough opponent, such as a win over Ohio State or a school like Texas. Doing so against WMU opened up the fanbase to plenty of punchlines over what they deem worthy of a field storm. Michigan must now put all the criticism behind it as the team prepares to host an Oklahoma Sooners team that will be much more of a challenge than Western Michigan was.
