Heavy rain hits Islamabad, parts of KP and Punjab

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed various areas of Islamabad, KP and Punjab while hailstorms caused damage to vehicles in several localities. Met Office has forecast more rainfall in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of KP warning residents of continued wet weather. Meanwhile, a cloudburst in the Kandalai area of Battagram triggered flash floods, destroying at least 15 houses and washing away roads. A four-year-old boy was swept away in the flash flood and later his body was recovered, while a search operation was underway for a seven-year-old girl who remains missing. Rain and hailstorms also hit several areas of Orakzai, causing significant damage to standing crops. Swabi city and surrounding areas also received rainfall. In Haripur, Khanpur Tehsil and Ghazi Tehsil, heavy rain led to the tripping of several power feeders, resulting in the suspension of electricity supply in affected areas. Authorities and local emergency services continued relief and search operations in areas affected by flooding and severe weather.
