Creature Fear premiere 'Mission To Love You' video

Naarm retro-pop rockers Creature Fear have never been afraid to embrace the playful side of their music, and the new video for 'Mission To Love You' might be one of their most gleefully unhinged creations yet. Today, we're thrilled to premiere the clip, a gloriously DIY collision of horror tropes, possessed dancing, strobe lights, laser pointers, a submerged band member and, most importantly, a dancing cat. 'Mission To Love You' arrived in July as Creature Fear's first new music of 2026. A longtime staple of the band's live set, the bass-driven track pairs Cameron Graham and Louise Gaul on dual vocals, telling a sliding-doors story of two people desperately trying to find one another but repeatedly being thwarted by bad timing. Produced and recorded with Julian Cue (Gut Health, Dr Sure's Unusual Practice), the track draws on the band's trademark quirky energy while digging into the frustration of an on-again, off-again relationship that never quite manages to align. That sense of chasing, near misses and general chaos finds a suitably ridiculous visual counterpart in the video, which began with much simpler ambitions before co-creator Amy Pollock and the band found themselves disappearing down a decidedly stranger path. About the process, Pollock shares: 'We started out wanting to do something quick and easy, but in true form we found ourselves developing a full horror narrative with the band being trapped in a haunted house by a dancing cat. (Cam was obsessed with the dancing cat idea, so that's where it all came from). We wanted to lean into the scrappiness of using a handy cam in a total DIY energy. We are so sick of seeing AI slop, we just wanted to embrace the silliness of what we were making and just have fun with it. Nothing says fun more than paper mache cats on fishing wire, strobe lights, submerging a band member in a bath, possessed dances, horror tropes, laser pointers and making the band run away from someone wearing a cat mask. I adore working with the band because they are always down for anything we throw at them. I think this is one of our silliest yet.' The result has all the scrappy charm Pollock was aiming for. It looks like it was a bunch of fun to shoot. Torches, hiding under beds, sinister cats and heaps more. Honestly, it makes you want to join a band. And according to Graham, he set himself a much simpler task: 'I just wanted a dancing cat. I know it's probably been done millions of times. But something higher was calling from above that it just needed a dancing cat. If I have one critique it's that there should be more dancing cat. I guess there is always next time.' He may have a point. Creature Fear have built a reputation for theatrical, energetic live shows, with appearances at Beyond The Valley, Grapevine and New Years On The Hill alongside support slots for Ball Park Music, Boo Seeka, Sophisticated Dingo, Killing Heidi, The Delta Riggs, Kingswood and Tired Lion.
