MCM to blacklist agencies over incomplete development works in Manesar

Gurgaon: Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) will blacklist private agencies that fail to complete development projects within stipulated deadlines, senior deputy mayor Praveen Yadav has said. Reports submitted by councillors showed that several development works across the corporation's 20 wards remained incomplete despite their deadlines having expired, Yadav said during a review meeting with civic officials held late on Tuesday. Yadav said some agencies awarded construction contracts had either left projects incomplete or failed to start them. Officials briefed Yadav on development works underway across all 20 wards and said projects were being carried out in every ward. They attributed delays at some locations to coordination issues and encroachments affecting construction sites. The list of incomplete works reviewed by the corporation included balance sewer-line work and desilting of the sewer line in village Harsaru; supply of a super-sucker machine for the drain near the bus stand in Hayatpur and pending construction of a road and water pipeline in Bamroli village and Hayatpur; repair of ductile iron (DI) water-supply line leakages, manhole covers and frames, etc., in Kankrola and Bhangrola; laying of a sewerage line and providing a DI water-supply line in the BPL colony near the stadium in Bhangrola, etc. The works also included construction of a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) drain on Bas-Bhangrola Road, providing and fixing precast slabs and desilting of the drain in Manesar village, installation of two tubewells in Manesar village, laying of a sewer line in Naharpur Kasan, repair of leakages in 100-mm, 150-mm and 200-mm DI underground water-supply pipelines in Naharpur Kasan and drilling of a tubewell near Krishna Mandir and the old veterinary hospital in Sikhopur village. According to MCM officials, encroachments by residents were a major reason for delays in the construction of roads and lanes at several locations. Notices have already been issued to those responsible for the encroachments. Joint commissioner Darshan Yadav said, 'The corporation's enforcement wing will launch an intensive drive from next week against encroachments that were obstructing development works.' The senior deputy mayor also directed officials to prioritise the restoration and improvement of drinking-water supply across the municipal corporation area. He instructed officials to expedite the construction of sewage treatment plants (STPs) in wards where the facilities are being built. Directions were also issued regarding street-light-related works. Ward councillors and their representatives attending the meeting raised issues concerning development works in their respective wards and apprised officials of problems being faced in their areas.
