Catholic Boy's Popcorn Pops in Kitten's Joy

Popcorn lived up to his 4-5 odds and took his record to two-for-two with a powerful victory in the Kitten's Joy Stakes at Colonial Downs Monday. The bay gelding, stretching out to 1 1/16 miles, tarried near the back of the field into the first turn and was moving forward only to be shuffled back to last as the field bunched up down the backstretch. He rushed up again midway on the final bend and surged into contention while four wide into the lane. He turned back a game Mightily late and pulled away to the wire. Popcorn came from just off the pace to earn a half-length debut victory going seven furlongs over the lawn at Horseshoe Indianapolis July 14.
