A beloved AEW star is set to make her return to Dynamite after around four years on a special show that is meant to pay tribute to her. The talent in question, Rebel, has now sent a message to her former rival, Hikaru Shida, ahead of their scheduled segment at the event.

Rebel has been a part of AEW since the promotion's foundational years, arriving in the Jacksonville-based company as Britt Baker's villainous personal assistant. For most of her on-screen All Elite Wrestling run, the Oklahoma-native was aligned with The DMD and her other associate and tag partner at the time, Jamie Hayter. She also wrestled in the promotion on a few occasions, although she has not appeared on television in a few years, having been beset by a number of serious health issues.

Earlier this year, Rebel announced on social media that she had been diagnosed with terminal ALS. Couple of months after this revelation, AEW announced that the promotion will be hosting a special edition of Wednesday Night Dynamite, titled Rebel Heart, in honor of the former OVW Women's Champion. The 48-year-old is also scheduled to make her comeback on the show alongside Britt Baker, with the duo set to host the return of "The Waiting Room" for the first time since 2021. The segment will also feature TBS Champion Persephone, as well as Hikaru Shida.

Days ahead of Dynamite, The Shining Samurai took to X/Twitter to voice her excitement over seeing Rebel again, reminiscing over some of their past battles in the company, which even involved weapons like crutches and kendo sticks. The latter replied to Shida some time earlier, informing her that she will be switching out her crutch for a wheelchair, and telling her that she will see her on the show soon.
