IGP Disu Appoints Flutterwave Founder Olugbenga Agboola National Youth Ambassador

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has appointed the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Flutterwave, Mr Olugbenga Agboola, OON, as the National Youth Ambassador of the Nigeria Police Force under the International Youth Day 2026 National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment Initiative. According to a press release on Monday, September 7, 2026, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the IGP formally conferred the appointment on Agboola on Monday, September 7, 2026, when he received the Flutterwave founder and his delegation at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. According to the Nigeria Police Force, the appointment recognises Agboola's achievements as a technology entrepreneur and his leadership in building Flutterwave into a leading African financial technology company, with notable contributions to innovation, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and responsible enterprise. The initiative seeks to harness the influence of positive youth leaders and credible role models to promote peacebuilding, cybersecurity awareness, entrepreneurship and constructive civic participation, while encouraging young Nigerians to shun cybercrime and other social vices. Disu said the appointment underscores the Force's commitment to engaging young Nigerians as strategic partners in creating safer communities and promoting responsible citizenship. He stressed the importance of providing youths with positive pathways through education, innovation, entrepreneurship and lawful enterprise, noting that young people must be empowered to contribute meaningfully to national development. The IGP also called for greater technological capacity among young police officers, particularly in understanding emerging technologies and their application to modern policing. He noted that enhanced expertise in digital tools and cyber-related investigative techniques would strengthen the Force's ability to investigate cybercrime, trace digital evidence and respond effectively to technology-enabled criminal activities. Disu charged the newly appointed ambassador to deploy his platform and influence toward inspiring young Nigerians to pursue legitimate opportunities, uphold integrity, embrace responsible innovation and contribute positively to society. Responding, Agboola thanked the Inspector-General for the confidence reposed in him and pledged his support for the objectives of the initiative, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, cybersecurity awareness, entrepreneurship and peaceful civic engagement.
