OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska Wildlife Rehab, a wildlife rescue service in Omaha, revealed the recent arrival of a bat species that has never before been documented in Nebraska.
The bat was found on the floor in an Omaha office building. The people who found her reached out to the Nebraska Humane Society Animal Control who transported the bat to Nebraska Wildlife Rehab.
The bat was identified as a female cave myotis, a species of bat native to western and southwestern United States and into Mexico. They then discovered this species of bat has never before been documented in the State of Nebraska.
Nebraska Wildlife Rehab said they suspect the bat may have tucked herself into a shipment, car or freight to reach Nebraska.
