Mangaluru: Police arrest man after 9 years on run over LPC warrant

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru Mangaluru, Sep 8: After remaining absconding and evading court appearances for nearly nine years, a 34-year-old accused wanted under a Long Pending Case (LPC) warrant has finally been traced and arrested by Mangaluru North police. The accused has been identified as Ashpak, 34, son of M Shafi, residing at Kileria Nagar, Mukkacheri in Ullal, Mangaluru. A case was registered against Ashpak at Mangaluru North police station under Crime No. 197/2017 under Sections 143, 147, 341, 504, 323, 506, 307 with Section 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The case is presently pending before the Second JMFC Court as C C No. 5442/2018. However, Ashpak failed to appear before the court and remained untraceable for a prolonged period. With the accused repeatedly failing to appear before the court, an LPC warrant was issued against him. Acting on the warrant, officers and personnel of Mangaluru North police station successfully traced Ashpak on September 8, 2026, bringing his prolonged absence from the court proceedings to an end. The accused was subsequently produced before the court, which ordered his remand to judicial custody.
