The 16 foot vessel got into trouble near Workington pier on Saturday, October 3, prompting a response from the lifeboat. Workington RNLI volunteers launched their D Class lifeboat, James R Allen at 3.50pm and arrived on scene five minutes later. When the volunteer crew arrived, the broken-down fishing boat was already receiving a tow from another vessel. Both vessels were escorted back into the harbour by the lifeboat, where the 16ft boat was safely tied up on its berth. The lifeboat returned to the station at 4.05pm to be made ready for its next search and rescue operation.
