BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – A 51-year-old Brooksville woman died Sunday night after being hit by an SUV on US-98 in Hernando County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 9:10 p.m. on September 6, just west of Goodway Drive. State troopers reported that a 63-year-old Brooksville man was driving a Mitsubishi Outlander westbound when his vehicle struck the pedestrian.
Investigators stated that the woman was standing in the roadway at the time of the crash, though it remains unclear why she was there.
Emergency responders transported the woman to a local hospital for treatment, where she later died from her injuries.
Authorities have not released the names of the driver or the pedestrian. The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
