Shafi Jan says Sindh ready to join Sept 27 PTI long march

Peshawar - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information, Science and Information Technology Minister Shafi Jan on Thursday claimed that the reception accorded to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in Sindh showed that the party's workers and supporters in the province were ready to join the September 27 long march. He said the street mobilisation in Sindh, following what he described as the movement led by the chief minister in KP, would help build support for the planned march towards Islamabad. Complete shutter-down strike observed in Bara against taxes, inflation Mr Jan said the participation of PTI workers and supporters in Ghotki and other parts of Sindh reflected what he described as strong public backing for former prime minister Imran Khan and the party. He praised the people and PTI workers of Sindh for the reception given to Mr Afridi and said Imran Khan was the only national leader with support extending across all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The minister claimed that public support for Imran Khan's release and for what he described as the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law extended nationwide. He said preparations for the September 27 long march were under way and PTI workers and supporters across the country were preparing to participate. Referring to the former prime minister's family meetings, he claimed that denying his sisters permission to meet him despite court orders amounted to contempt of court. He demanded implementation of Supreme Court orders concerning meetings between Imran Khan and his family and his transfer to a hospital, 'in letter and spirit'. The minister also criticised what he called the 'Form-47 federal government', alleging that it continued to violate court orders. Mr Jan said the PTI's campaign for Imran Khan's release and what he described as the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law would continue with renewed determination, with the participation of supporters in Sindh and other parts of the country.
