[Update: Air Transport Declined] Woman Suffers Possible Leg Fracture in Dyerville Loop Road Motorcycle Crash

Southern Humboldt emergency crews responded to a solo motorcycle crash on Dyerville Loop Road around 11:30 a.m. today. According to scanner traffic, the crash happened where the road turns from gravel to pavement. The rider, a 55-year-old woman, suffered a possible tibia and fibula fracture. She was reported alert and oriented at the scene. Fruitland Ridge and Cal Fire crews responded, along with Cal Fire's Helicopter 604 and a requested REACH air ambulance. Around 11:54 a.m., the first unit on scene, in what dispatch is now calling the Elk Incident, told dispatch the air ambulances could be canceled and asked for the ground ambulance to continue in. City Ambulance then asked the incident commander to keep the air ambulance coming. The other incoming fire units were canceled. Update 12:06 p.m.: Cal Fire helicopter 604 landed at the Elk IC just after noon today. However, according to scanner traffic, the patient has declined air ambulance transport; medics on scene agree that air transport is unnecessary. 604 will stay on scene as a precaution until the patient is transported via ground.
