President John Mahama has rewarded Nations FC with $20,000 following their domestic success and ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup campaign. The money was presented when the MTN FA Cup holders paid a courtesy call on the President at the Jubilee House. Nations FC are representing Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the MTN FA Cup last season. The Premier League side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Malian club FC Diarra in the first leg of their preliminary round tie on September 5, 2026. Nations FC will now return to Accra for the second leg this weekend, where they will look to overturn the deficit and progress to the next round. The Ghanaian club will need to score at least twice without conceding to secure qualification within 90 minutes. The financial support from President Mahama is intended to assist Nations FC as they continue their campaign on the continent. With home advantage in the second leg, Nations FC will be hoping to use the support and backing from their fans to overturn the first-leg setback and keep their Confederation Cup campaign alive.
