Trial date set for Fond du Lac mother accused of neglecting son, resulting in his death

FOND DU LAC (WLUK) – A Nov. 30 trial date was set Tuesday for Tina Beauprey, who allegedly neglected her son, causing his death by starvation. Beauprey, 52, is charged with neglecting a child - consequence is death for the Dec. 5 death of her son, Jeremiah. According to the criminal complaint, Jeremiah had been in foster care due to his Duchenne muscular dystrophy, but he was returned to Beauprey's care in November 2024. Jeremiah was taken to multiple medical appointments, where Beauprey was told he needed to gain weight, the complaint states. After the boy died, an autopsy determined he died of starvation ketoacidosis, with the death ruled a homicide. Beauprey's attorney filed a speedy trial demand, which requires a trial to start within 90 days. A five-day trial is planned. Tina Beauprey, 51, is accused of neglecting her 12-year-old son, whose death was ruled a homicide caused by starvation, prosecutors said. (Fond Du Lac County Sheriff) Beauprey also asked for the $500,000 cash bond to be reduced. That will be addressed Thursday afternoon. The complaint alleges the death was due chronic neglect. Dr. Covach believed that this would take weeks, but likely months of starvation for this build up,' the complaint states. At an earlier hearing, defense attorney Michael Queensland argued the boy had Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a terminal illness, and it was expected he would lose weight. 'The family had been informed that the child was terminally ill. He was going to lose weight. And soon, was going to need a feeding tube,' Queensland said. But the doctor who did the autopsy takes a different view, according to the complaint. Det. Meilahn asked, "Given Victim 1's Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy diagnosis, and the shortened life expectancy that comes with that, could Victim 1's death be attributed to a natural course of death associated with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy?" Dr. Covach advised that the answer is "no". He then explained that if Victim 1 would have been receiving proper care and nutrition, "he would still be alive today.",' the complaint states. Beauprey noted the boy's decline in her statements to police. 'The Defendant stated that Victim 1 was sick the week of Thanksgiving and she just knew he was going to be gone soon. The defendant also noted that on December 3, 2025 and December 4, 2025 that Victim 1 was the worst he had ever been. The Defendant stated on December 3, 2025 during the day and throughout the night, Victim 1 was somewhat verbal and moaning. The defendant stated he was saying nonsensical stuff and agreed it seemed like he may be hallucinating or something.
