Florida moves up in USAT's college football re-rank after Week 1 win

Florida football began the 2026 campaign with a bang on Saturday, running out to a 66-21 victory over the FAU Owls at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in a triumphant opening of the Jon Sumrall era. With two weeks of college football action now in the books, USA TODAY Sports writer Paul Myerberg released his first regular-season re-rank on Tuesday. Myerberg's previous re-rank for this fall came out in late August ahead of Week 0, with the Gators placed at No. 36. In his latest offering, the Sumrall and Co. find themselves up five spots at No. 31 and remain ranked 10th among Southeastern Conference schools. Speaking of the SEC, the league still has eight programs among the top 25 in the re-rank, headlined by fourth-ranked Texas, along with Georgia (No. 6), LSU (No. 8), Oklahoma (No. 9) and Alabama (No. 10) in the top 10. Ole Miss (No. 12), Texas A&M (No. 13) and Tennessee (No. 17) round out the top 25, while Missouri sits just outside the group at No. 26. Next up for Florida are the FCS Campbell Fighting Camels, who visit the Swamp on Saturday, Sept. 12, for a Week 2 matchup.
