Dujon Sterling offers Rangers injury insight and reveals why things have changed under Derek McInnes this season

DUJON STERLING admits filling the void left by James Tavernier is a challenge he's relishing. The 26-year-old is fully fit and firing after a frustrating injury-ravaged two year spell. 'Obviously, I can play in different positions but that wasn't what it was supposed to be. 'Everything comes with different measures, and things happen. 'We had a lot of injuries. 'Injuries happen for a lot of players and luckily, I've been able to fill in there so that's obviously why it happened. 'I think it was last season, after I came back from the Achilles, you saw me playing right back more. 'Those games that Tav missed, I would play. It was fine. Advertisement 'I've not really thought about it. 'I think it's something that I should relish, to be honest. 'Obviously, when he was here, I was still playing mostly every game anyway so it's nothing new for me. Advertisement 'You've got to take every game as it comes, and you've got to enjoy it like you play it. 'When I was getting injured, we were rushing me back from the injury to play in the games because every game is an important game. 'So I might not be 100 per cent, but I'm coming back to play even if I'm at 50 per cent. 'So that's probably why I was breaking down again. 'Whereas now we identified the problems over the summer, and now you can see that I'm in a good place. Advertisement 'I've missed only one game, and that was just because of the pitch, and that's from the specialist who said for the Achilles, don't play on that pitch.' After a torrid start, Rangers have banked successive wins against Aberdeen, Falkirk and Motherwell. They host St Mirren at Ibrox on Wednesday, determined to keep that run going. 'All the new players have played and you can see there's a togetherness in the group, so it's been really good. 'We all know Europe was disappointing at the start of the season. 'We had a lot of tough games, things weren't going our way or how we wanted it to. 'You're hurting but we're out of that now. Advertisement 'There's that outside noise so you've got to stay together as a group. 'You've got to stick with it and just keep working hard every day.
