Turbat town of Balochistan has been suffering from a severe shortage of properly trained nurses – something that is costing precious human lives. Local medical centres and major hospitals across Turbat lack qualified nursing staff, particularly during night shifts. In many instances, emergency units are either completely unattended or staffed by undertrained individuals who lack basic medical preparation. Without proper training, staff struggle to manage critical patients, deliver incorrect treatments, or administer wrong medications — leading to preventable deaths. This lack of expertise is especially devastating in maternal care and emergency delivery cases involving severe bleeding, as well as in the treatment of newborns and young children. Families across our community are left in deep agony due to these avoidable tragedies. Human lives cannot be treated like a game. The provincial health authorities should take urgent steps to appoint qualified, well-trained nursing professionals in hospitals in Turbat to provide better services to the citizens.
