Chairing a special meeting, the chief minister approved the establishment of the Maryam Nawaz Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Mianwali, while a decision was also taken to establish the Kulsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan. The meeting was informed that a 268-bed Nawaz Sharif Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiology would be established in Gujranwala. According to the briefing, the Nawaz Sharif Medical District would have institutes of Infectious Diseases, Plastic Surgery, Genetics, Surgical and Orthopedic Medicine. Children's Hospital-II and the Institute of Ophthalmology would also be established there. 'Transformation of Rural Health Centres into Maryam Nawaz Hospitals' Similarly, a major transformation has taken place in rural healthcare after Rural Health Centres (RHCs) across Punjab were converted into Maryam Nawaz Hospitals, where more than 7.824 million patients have been treated. The meeting, chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was briefed that 5.251 million patients had been treated at the OPDs of Maryam Nawaz Hospitals in rural areas, while 32,944 normal deliveries had been conducted. Following their conversion into Maryam Nawaz Hospitals, major surgeries were initiated, with 50,348 successful major surgeries/operations performed for the first time. The briefing further revealed that more than 287,000 minor surgeries had also been performed at Maryam Nawaz Hospitals across Punjab. More than 1.583 million pathology tests had been conducted at the hospitals, while over 618,000 patients underwent radiology tests, including ultrasound and ECG. The rural hospitals now provide facilities for CBC, LFT, RFT, HCV, ESR and other diagnostic tests, enabling residents of remote areas to access essential healthcare services closer to home. Maryam Nawaz said PM Shehbaz Sharif presented a well-reasoned case before the General Assembly on the India-Pakistan water dispute. He also raised a strong voice in support of the Palestinian people and condemned Israel. The chief minister said the prime minister called for a peaceful resolution to the Iran conflict and, by declaring the protection and sanctity of Al-Haramain Al-Sharifain a red line, effectively represented the sentiments of the Muslim Ummah.
