There could soon be 'light at the end of the tunnel' when it comes to the long-awaited Carrick-on-Shannon bypass. Local councillor Sean McGowan says plans are expected to be sent to the higher planning authority this year. He says it's something both commuters and the local business community have called for. Advertisement However, work on the new bypass may not start for at least two years. The Cathaoirleach of Carrick-on-Shannon says traffic delays are a major issue in the town:
