Libya says ready to host African and international competitions

National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister Ibrahim Dbeibah has affirmed Libya's full readiness and ability to host and successfully organize various African and international sporting events and competitions to high standards, stressing the state's commitment to providing all necessary security and logistical requirements and guarantees in accordance with the highest approved standards. The remarks came during an expanded meeting held in the capital, Tripoli, attended by Libyan Football Federation President Abdulmoula Al-Maghrabi and several federation officials, as well as CAF Director of Safety and Security Dr. Christian Emeruwa, who is visiting the country as part of a routine inspection tour of Tripoli, Misrata and Benghazi from September 7 to 10. The meeting discussed operational and security arrangements for hosting matches involving Libyan clubs in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup for the 2026–2027 season, as well as matches of the Libyan national team in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Libyan Football Federation President Abdulmoula Al-Maghrabi said the federation had met all the conditions and standards required by CAF and was working in direct coordination with state institutions to ensure the highest levels of technical and organizational readiness. The CAF delegation's visit includes field inspections of stadiums, sports facilities and approved hotels, as well as assessments of plans for the movement of fans and delegations, security arrangements for team and referee routes, and operational preparations for matchday management.
