Leitrim event to discuss role social media plays in amplifying hate and disinformation

A workshop event being held in County Leitrim is set to explore the role social media plays in amplifying hate and disinformation. The Building Inclusive Communities Workshop is being held Friday, October 16 at Island Theatre, Ballinamore from 11am to 3.30pm. The event questions how can people work together to create a welcoming, connected and inclusive community. A spokesperson for the workshop said: 'This session will be an opportunity for local people to learn more about the dynamics of the far right and the role social media plays in amplifying hate and disinformation. 'The training will also introduce participants to what community response could look like and how to build an inclusive narrative for Leitrim.' This training is being facilitated by the Hope and Courage Collective in partnership with Leitrim PPN, Leitrim Volunteer Centre, Community Connect project and SICAP. It is a full days training aimed at volunteers, community groups and any interested people living in Leitrim, with lunch included. Registration is essential.
