An application has been submitted to Kerry County Council for the development of five apartments near the centre of the county's tourism capital. Kerry developer Boocon Company Limited is seeking permission to build two, two-storey residential blocks in Killarney across from the town's bus station on Park Road. The development comprises of block A, containing two units, and block B containing three units, both located to the rear of the existing 'Railway Lodge' at the front of the plot. The planning statement calls it a 'car-free' residential scheme, with secure bicycle parking accommodated by dedicated combined bicycle shelter. Pedestrian and cyclist access is provided from Park Road through the existing Railway Lodge entrance. The architectural design statement highlights the site's 'highly accessible' location, with everyday services, employments and public transport located within a short walking distance. 'The final arrangement reflects a balance between compact development and the protection of residential amenity,' the statement reads. A pre-connection enquiry to public water and wastewater infrastructure is currently being assessed by Uisce Éireann. Funded by the Local Democracy Reporting Scheme
