6 get life term for murder over storm-blown cow dung cakes

Sonipat : A Sonipat court has sentenced six members of a family to life imprisonment for the June 2021 murder of a neighbour following a dispute over cow-dung cakes. Additional sessions judge Subhash Chandra Sirohi convicted Suresh , his wife Santro, their sons Amit and Sumit , Suresh's elder brother Ramesh and Ramesh's son Sikander. The court found them guilty of murder, criminal conspiracy, rioting with deadly weapons and voluntarily causing hurt under the IPC. Each convict was fined Rs 1.03 lakh, with the court ordering Rs 1.5 lakh from the total recovered fines to be paid as compensation to the family of the victim, Jagdish . The incident occurred on June 2, 2021, when strong winds swept cow-dung cakes from Suresh's plot into the adjoining property of neighbour Jagdish in Kalupur village. A heated argument ensued after Jagdish's family requested the neighbours collect the material. The next day, as Jagdish and his family were travelling to the police station to resolve the matter, the accused ambushed them with axes, sticks, iron pipes and sharp weapons. Jagdish died of injuries sustained during the attack.
