Earl Spencer shares his thoughts about Diana vs Meghan Markle Charles Spencer, just sat down for one of the most candid chats he's ever done and compared the media treatment his sister's daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, faced. His conversation, although specific to the release of his book Swan Song also included Meghan Markle when he was asked if Diana would have 'identified' with the scrutiny faced by Meghan Markle, had she been alive today. To the host, Laura Kuenssberg's question he simply said, 'if you look at an article in a tabloid about Diana or the couple that you were mentioning, Harry and Meghan, you know, they can be really, really unpleasant. And I think it would be really beholden on people to learn from Diana's example.' However, right after those words left his lips he made clear, one thing and noted, 'I'm not here to speak for Harry and Meghan, but for anyone who's being destroyed in this way daily, it must be such a cancerous influence in their life.' A bit later into the conversation he followed by highlighting a bit of Diana's anguish too and recalled her 'tears of despair' whenever she was faced with media coverage. As for the reason he admitted, she was 'very, very sensitive to criticism.' He also didn't conclude before making sure one thing was in the media, and that was who he was 'supporting' with Swan Song. Per his own words, despite many excerpts pointing out Prince Harry's misery since her death – 'I'm on my deceased sister's sons' side,' he admitted. 'Both of them and if either of them wanted anything, then I'd be equally there for them.'
