Lucknow: As UP economy continues to outpace national growth, Axis Bank , the country's third-largest private sector bank, has significantly expanded its footprint in the state over the past two years. Launching Sparsh Week 2026, a customer engagement initiative, managing director and chief executive officer Amitabh Chaudhry said the state's rapid growth was benefiting both large enterprises and small manufacturing units, creating new opportunities across sectors. The senior-most executive added that UP could be a launchpad for businesses looking to go national. 'We are delighted to launch the Sparsh initiative from UP at a time when the state is emerging as country's most important economic centres. As infrastructure development, entrepreneurship and digital adoption continue to gather pace, we remain focused on providing the financial solutions and banking services needed to support these aspirations,' he said. The bank highlighted its strong presence where it operates in all 75 districts through 572 branches, 1,251 ATMs and cash recyclers and over 12,740 village and urban-level entrepreneurs as of June 2026. Axis Bank reported a deposit base amounting to Rs 70,675 crore and gross advances of Rs 54,367 crore in the state as of June 2026. The priority sector lending stood at Rs 21,970 crore, while MSME advances were Rs 17,713 crore and agriculture and allied activities advances Rs 3,273 crore. The bank said it plans to further expand its distribution network in UP, adding nearly 50 locations by March 2027. It currently employs more than 9,200 people in the state. Senior executives from the bank said high-potential growth corridors offer a lot of potential as well as business opportunities. National Capital Region, Lucknow-Kanpur region, Agra, Aligarh, Mathura and Vrindavan region as well as Bundelkhand could emerge as important centres for manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture, defence and agriculture, the executives maintained.
