PM Drew Wishes Students Success as 2026–27 School Year Begins

Dr Drew wished all the students, teachers, parents and school staff members an amazing first day of school. The 2026-27 academic session for St Kitts and Nevis started on Monday, September 7, 2026. The Prime Minister, who is currently in Florida and recovering from his health concerns, took to his social media to address the nation. He urged the students of St. Kitts and Nevis to stay focused, work hard, be kind, and believe in what they can achieve. Dr Drew also thanked the members of the school staff, teachers, and parents for the role that they play in supporting the students. As the nation begins the 2026-27 school session, the Prime Minister hopes that the students have a successful academic year ahead. The Prime Minister of the country hosted the annual Back to School Fair for the children and families of Constituency 8. The event is hosted every year before the start of the new school year and brings together parents, children and families from across communities to prepare for the upcoming academic session. The back to school fair was the Prime Minister's final public appearance before his health situation arose and he had to be flown out of the country for specialised observation. The Prime Minister was with students of his constituency on August 30, less than a day before his health concerns started. Even now, when Dr Drew is under active observation, he kept the children of St. Kitts and Nevis at the forefront of his mind. The Prime Minister's post was met with an overwhelming response from the members of the public in St. Kitts and Nevis. They appreciated the leader for keeping the children of the country on his mind as he recovers from his health situation. The people of St Kitts and Nevis were happy to see the care and dedication of their leader even as he is overseas and under medical supervision. The people of the country prayed for the Prime Minister's wellbeing and speedy recovery. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley, who is serving as the Acting Prime Minister, also addressed the nation to mark the beginning of the new school year 2026/2027. Dr Hanley and other political leaders across the island extended their best wishes to the children as they take on the new academic year.
