Casablanca – Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) Governor Abdellatif Jouahri earned an A- rating in Global Finance's 2026 Central Banker Report Cards, placing him among the world's 25 top central bank governors.
The New York-based financial magazine published the report today, continuing an assessment it has conducted annually since 1994. Jouahri also stands as the only central bank governor in North Africa to receive an A- rating this year.
Global Finance evaluates central bank governors from nearly 100 countries, territories and key jurisdictions. Its assessment also covers central bankers from the European Union, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Bank of Central African States and the Central Bank of West African States.
The magazine grades governors on a scale from A+ to F. Its assessment considers several areas of monetary and economic management, including inflation control, economic growth targets, currency stability, interest-rate management and independence from political influence.
Other governors who received an A- include Gent Sejko of Albania, Santiago Bausili of Argentina, Chea Serey of Cambodia, Aleš Michl of the Czech Republic and Héctor Valdez Albizu of the Dominican Republic.
